I am a very busy lady, managing a household, running several businesses and juggling an endless "to do" list. Despite being preoccupied with a million things to manage, I try and make sure my nails look good, because if the nails are gross, I feel gross... I can't explain it. Needless to say, I nearly fell out of my chair when I read about Shellac on alllacqueredup.com. The pictures of her nails on day 14 of her Shellac manicure were astounding! It was like someone had photographed a Unicorn! Or someone finally captured big foot.... I could not wrap my brain around what I was seeing! Her nails looked like they were just polished, yet her manicure was actually 14 days old!

I have to admit, I actually had DREAMS about getting my first Shellac manicure. The anticipation was so great, I could barely contain my excitement! The thought of actually having beautiful nails for 14 days (to me) is one of the greatest beauty inventions of my lifetime!

My favorite quintessential manicure is a French one. But as all natural nailed ladies know, a French manicure is only going to look great for 2-3 days before the chipping begins. My CND Shellac French manicure was with 2 colors, Negligee (a transparent pink with a very subtle iridescent) and Cream Puff (the opaque white used for the tips). Now, I have to admit that I was a bit bummed at how clear the Negligee appeared. I have on 2 coats in this photo. A white on white manicure is my preferred choice (1 coat Essie Waltz and 1 coat Essie Marshmallow). But with the limited color selection currently available from CND Shellac, Negligee was my only option... though I think Shellac Romantique might make for a good alternative (I will try next time).

So far, on day two of my Shellac French Manicure, I have no nicks, chips or scratches. Just INSANELY shiny and healthy natural nails! A VERY important step to keeping your Shellac manicure looking great, is to apply Solar Oil every day! Yesterday, our 225 lb Mastiff, Maximus woke us up at 3:00 AM - as he often does. I could not go back to sleep so I switched on the TV to find what had to be one of the most compelling infomercials I have every seen. They were talking about a health drink called Juven by Abbott Nutrition. This nutritional drink is touted as targeted therapeutic nutrition that helps build and maintain lean body mass (LBM), and support healing all while giving you a ton of natural energy.

The testimonials from Juven customers were astounding and everything about this product sounded like something I wanted to order, especially since I am usually exhausted because I wake up at 3:00 AM most mornings - (thanks to Maximus).

I got online to see how I could order this miracle juice but it looks like it is really only being marketed to those with or recovering from Cancer, Chemotherapy, Immune disfunction, and the list goes on. Their website also states to use this product under medical supervision. Price for 30 servings, (15 days) about $100 -- WOW!

I was wondering, has anyone tried this? Can the average sleep deprived person like myself take Juven? I was hoping for some Juven reviews or feedback.

Right now I acquire energy from 1 cup of coffee and B-100 Vitamins each day.

I Dreamt My Teeth Fell Out... Now What?

I mentioned my dream to a friend in the office this morning... he gasped, "I have had that dream before too, it means something!!!" So for the last hour I have been googling the possible dream inturprtaions of having voluntarily pulled out my front two teeth (that were the consistancey of dough) and watching them grow back (slowly) into a beautiful formed, exceptionally white, super model smile. Bizarre dream right? So, for my fellow tooth loss dreamers, here are some of the different interpretations I uncovered about losing teeth in a dream:

1) "Teeth are supposed to stand for aggerssive sexulality, although more properly they signify the growth process towards sexual maturity. Teeth falling or coming out easily indicates we are aware of going through some form of transition, similar to that from childhood to maturity, or from maturity to old age and helplessness. If one is anxious about teeth droping out it suggests there is a fear of getting old and undersirable, or anxiety about maturing. In a woman's dream, if the teeth are swallowed this can signify pregnancy." --> Lovely, but I don't think so.

2) To dream your teeth are loose, there will be gloomy tidings

3) To dream of cleaning or washing your teeth - watch your money

4) To dream of losing your teeth denotes a fall in pride (stop looking in the mirror!)

5) To dream of spitting out teeth means sickness

6) To dream of one tooth falling out - disagreeable news, but to seeing teeth fall out - death and famine! ---> YIKES!!!!

It's the Balm!

I've always been a big lip balm guy since I always had kinda dry lips. When I was a kid, my mom got me the classic black chapstick -- a little waxy and a little odd tasting, but it did the trick. As I got older, I tried all sorts of different types and brands and became somewhat of a lip balm conneseur. I discovered that price clearly had no bearing on the quality of the balm. Some are too dry, some are too sticky, some sting, some are soo waxy... you know, you've tried a bunch too!

Recently I heard someone talking about Canus Vermont's Goat's Milk products -- including a lip balm. Goat's Milk, eh? I felt like the guy Andrew Zimmer on the food network who tries all those bizarre foods, but I did it. I must say, it rocked. Just the right mix of subtle flavor, texture and emollients. It was $2.45 well spent. I'm on my third one now and have no intention of switching... it is the balm!

My feet are nice, clean and, well, kind of attractive. At least that is what girlfriends always told me all my life. My latest bathing adventure turned out to be one of my absolute favorites! Normally, I exclusively put mustard on a sandwhich, knish or hot dog. Balayage - French Hair Painting

I simply adore the French hand-painting technique of Balayage for transforming my brown locks to blonde. This freehand application of bleach creates a very natural and chunky highlighting effect that lasts much longer than conventional foil highlights and lusterizes the hair with a coat of "gloss" as the grand finale of the application.

Men & women stop and ask me about my hair everywhere I go -- almost 90% of them make appointments with my colorist. It seems people love the look of velvety blonde highlights slightly contrast with naturally brown hair. I prefer baliage (balayage) to conventional highlights for several reasons. The first being that the color is a "believable" blonde color. Lisa Cooper's technique creates buttery blonde color without brassy or orange tones. Even when my color is 8 weeks old, my blonde highlights stay truely blonde. The other thing I ADORE about balayage is that I can wait longer between color. With foil highlights I had to get to the salon for a single process, then highlights every 6 weeks on the dot. By the 6th week point my roots looked like a dark black stipe on my head - and my color was brassy, and dingy. Lisa's technique allows me to to as long as 2.5 months between color. The way the painting is staggered, the "grow out" is more natural looking, without a strong root stripe. Lastly, it is quick. I no longer need a single process. Lisa's technique is efficient and takes only 2 hours for painting, processing and "gloss". That is HALF the time I was spending getting a single process and foil highlights!

Many of you have asked me to explain the glossing process. After your hair has been painted, heated and rinsed, Lisa mixes a bowl of silky glaze that sits in wet hair for 5 mintues before shampooing and conditioning. This leaves the hair with a high lustre and almost sparkles. It adds dimension and shine to the hair and seals in color... it is perfection.

My Dogs Stink...

Let me preface this by saying I love my dogs... A LOT. But, at the end of the day, they smell. Unlike most humans, baths are far and few between.

I've tried a lot of different coat deodorizers, but I really am not that keen on spraying things with all sorts of 50 letter long chemical names in them on the doggies. Oddly enough, I check the labels of products more for my dogs than I do for myself. Maybe its the fact that the dogs are like kids... the innocents.
